Attributes of Allah
Al-Wahhab means the Bestower. Allah is the giver of everything. We have nothing of our own. Whatever we have is a gift from Allah. He is the Bestower or Giver of all that we have.
Al-Fattah means the Judge. It also means the Opener and the Successor. Allah opens ways and gives us success so that we are able to overcome our problems and difficulties. He opens paths of knowledge of science and discoveries. He opens our mouth for others to understand us by His grace.
Ar-rizzaq means the Provider and the Sustainer. Allah provides our food and drink. He provides for us in many ways. From the sea we get all kinds of fish. From the earth, all kinds of fruit and vegetables. Allah gives rizq(food) to those who obey him and even those who do not obey Him. We should also learn to give to those who are close to us and also to our enemies.
Al-Aalim means the All-knowing. Allah's knowledge is complete. He knows everything, including the past and the future. Allah knows the hidden and what is not hidden. He neither forgets nor maker mistakes. He knew how the Quraish were planning to kill the Prophet. He commanded the Prophet to leave Makkah and go to Madinah. He knew that Abraha wanted to destroy the Kaabah. Allah destroyed Abraha instead.
Al-Qaabidh means the straightener. It is Allah who provides for our needs. It is Allah who reduces our needs. We should depend on Allah, and not other people, for our needs. They cannot reduce what Allah has decided to give us. It is only Allah who can hold back.
